ALIGNMENT

Symptoms of a poor wheel alignment

It is a well known fact that if your car constantly pulls to the right or left, it is in need of a wheel alignment. But there are other symptoms; tires that wear faster on one side (inside vs outside tread), a steering wheel that is off center, squealing tires, and a shaking steering wheel when all tires are properly balanced are all clear signs that your car definitely needs an alignment.

Why align your wheels?

For your security and your wallet!

Obviously, first and foremost you should ensure your cars’ wheels are aligned for your security. A vehicle with misaligned wheels will not hold the road as well, especially in rainy or winter conditions. But there are also monetary reasons to ensure your wheels are aligned.

Have you ever had to push around a shopping cart with a wheel that just didn’t want to cooperate? Remember how you constantly had to nudge it back in the right direction? When your car’s wheels are misaligned, your engine must work harder. The additional friction against the pavement will increase fuel consumption and tire wear.

A study made in 2006 by the non-profit organization Freight Best Practice on a fleet of commercial vehicles revealed that a one degree misalignment of one wheel caused an approximate increase of 5% in fuel consumption and up to a 50% decrease in tire lifespan!

Why choose Garage Francis Dion

Your safety is important to us. We continually invest in employee training to ensure that when you trust us with your vehicle alignment, you will get nothing less than high quality work.

In addition, we have invested in the HawkEye Elite alignment system made by Hunter, the world leader in wheel alignment. The HawkEye Elite system is renowned as the most technologically advanced wheel alignment system available today.

When performing a wheel alignment our technicians adjust your wheels’ camber angle (this angle measures the wheel’s offset from a perfect vertical), toe angle (when two wheels are not perfectly parallel) and caster angle (which is the angular displacement of the steering axis from the vertical axis; an extreme example being the front wheel of a “chopper” motorcycle), to ensure a straight comfortable driving experience.
